Norene Bunn Collins, 88 of Hillsville, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Commonwealth Assisted Living. Mrs. Collins was born in Carroll County to the late Oscar Ellis and Ora Kemp Bunn.   In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Collins and a brother, Paul Bunn.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Suzanne Collins of Hillsville and Gary and Pam Collins of Bland; sister and brother-in-law, Reva and Gerald Combs of Elkin, NC; grandchildren and spouses, Stephanie and Jason Burnette, Christy and Darin Shupe, and Brenna Collins; great grandchildren, Taylor Shupe, Rianna Shupe and Ayden Maxwell; nephew and spouse, Greg and Elizabeth Combs; great nephew, Noah Combs; and great niece, Mary Elizabeth Combs.

The family would like to express a special thank you to all the caregivers at Mountain Valley Hospice and Commonwealth Assisted Living. Flowers are appreciated; however, in lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care 1477 Carrollton Pike, Hillsville, VA 24343.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 2, 2016 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 3:00 PM with Pastor Maria Grimm officiating. Burial will follow in the Independence Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Greg Combs, Jason Burnette, Darin Shupe, Noah Combs, Jason Semones and Max Taylor and honorary pallbearer will be Jimmy Kemp. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 until 3:00 PM prior to the funeral service. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
