Nelson Meef Quesenberry, 74, of Hillsville passed away on April 25, 2008 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Mr. Quesenberry was preceded in death by his parents, Meef and Opal Quesenberry, and brother Dennis Quesenberry. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Hurst Quesenberry of the home; sons and daughter-in-law David Nelson Quesenberry of Dublin, VA, George Michael & Kimberly Quesenberry of Livingston, MT, Mark Wayne Quesenberry of Hilliard, OH; grandchildren Kacie Erin Quesenberry and Daniel Michael Quesenberry; sisters and brothers-in-law Delores Parks of Saltville, VA, Mary Frances & Bob Kell of Hillsville, Janice & Cleo Surratt of Mt. Airy, NC; sister-in-law Betty Quesenberry of Mt. Airy, NC; brother-in-law and spouse Wayne & Shirley Hurst of Hillsville; aunt Clara Mae Quesenberry of Kingsport, TN; uncles and spouse Jack Lewis of Hillsville, Fred & Rita Lewis of Hampton, VA, Russell Reece of Lancaster, PA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mr. Quesenberry was retired from the Appalachian Power Company with 30 years of service. He was a member of the Hillsville Masonic Lodge #193 AF & AM for fifty three years, as well as being a member of the Dinwiddie Presbyterian Church. Prior to serving in the U. S. Army in Nuremburg, Germany, he worked at the High Rock Mill and the Carroll County Bank. He was an avid outdoorsman and hunter, with many trophies to his credit.
The funeral service will be on Monday, April 28, 2008 at 2:00 PM at the Vaughan Guynn McGrady Chapel, with Rev. Chris Carlisle and Pastor David Bays officiating. Burial will follow in the Quesenberry Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 PM preceding the service at the funeral home. Masonic Rites will be conducted by the Hillsville Masonic Lodge #193 AF & AM. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Dinwiddie Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 2698 Homestead Rd., Hillsville, VA 24343.
