Nelson Olean Lewis, 74 of Galax, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2007 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was preceded in death by his daughter Donna Lynn Lewis, brother Sam Lewis, sisters Jean Dalton and Nellie Horton and step son Gary Clyde Tate. Mr. Lewis is survived by his wife Marie H. Lewis of Hillsville; daughters & son-in-law Norma & Mason Thomas of Austinville, Teresa Dickens of Hillsville and Dana Goad of Fancy Gap; sons Dexter Lewis and Timmy Lewis both of Hillsville; step daughter & spouse Carolyn & Ricky Hall of Woodlawn; brothers Avery Lewis of Rennsalear, IN, John Lewis of Laurel Fork and Jake Lewis of Hillsville; sisters Maybelle Harris of Hillsville, Estes Leftwich of Hillsville and Lola Horton of Hillsville; mother of his children Mildred Christine Lewis of Austinville; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 8, 2007 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 11:00 AM with Rev. Harvey Carico officiating. Burial will follow in the Light Cemetery in Meadows of Dan. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Sunday night at the funeral home.
