Nancy Ellen Rose, 80 of Wytheville, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2019 at her home. Nancy was born in Rose Holler in Max Meadows, VA on March 2, 1939 to the late Elva Thelma Ogle Rose, a homemaker, and Malcolm Robinson Rose a coalminer. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two daughters, Deidra Deneen Gravley and Elva Rosemary Nixon "Chick" and two sons, Dennis Wayne Surratt and Dale Russell Gravley.

Ms. Rose was a member of Westview Baptist Church in Cana, Virginia. Her favorite past times were cooking for her family and loving on her grandchildren. Nancy worked in the Hillsville community as a seamstress at both Mayville and Bassett-Walker.

Survivors include her children and spouses, Marcy Bayse, Rick Surratt, Michael and Rosalie Surratt, Cathy and John Smith, Cristy Quesinberry and W.D. Beverly, Paul and Vivian Gravley, Alan and Rhonda Gravley, Dallas Gravley, and Gary and Penny Gravley and special daughter-in-law, Brenda Gravley (Dale), siblings, Eliza Scott, Virginia Hudson, Frances Pierce, and Dan and Janice Rose; many loved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and several cherished nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Rev. Darren Slate officiating. Burial will follow in the Little Vine Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Little Vine Cemetery in Sylvatus, VA. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
