Myrtle V. Montgomery, 92 of Hillsville, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2013 at her home. Mrs. Montgomery was born in Gary, Indiana to the late Lawrence and Mae Schumate Dalton. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Abraham Lincoln Montgomery; a daughter, Vera Carolyn Montgomery; and two grandchildren. Survivors include her children and their spouses, Al Montgomery and wife, Shirley, Arnold Montgomery and wife, Nancy, Harold Montgomery and wife, Karen, Willie Montgomery, Hobie Montgomery and wife, Ann, Elsie Montgomery, Norma Abrams and husband, Mike, Ted Montgomery and wife, Pat, Donald Montgomery and wife, Joan, and Nora Ashford; thirteen grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Dinwiddie Presbyterian Church with Pastor Eugene Baldwin officiating. Burial will follow in the Dry Pond Cemetery. Mrs. Montgomery will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. The family will receive friends at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
