Moir E. Nester, 91, of Hillsville, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at Twin County Regional Hospital. Mr. Nester was born in Carroll County to the late George Elliott and Mattie Cox Nester. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, James and Sexton Nester; and two sisters, Alta Woodfield and Sylvia Bohon. Survivors include his wife, Connie Gay Nester of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Belvia Nester of Hillsville; daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Ben Goad of Willis; sisters and brother-in-law, Velma Roberts and Eula and Owen Martin all of Hillsville; grandsons and spouses, Jacob and Katie Nester, Michael and Mandy Nester, and Matthew Goad; great grandsons, Lucas Nester, Miles Nester, Ezra Nester, and Elam Nester; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Crooked Oak Baptist Church at 2:00 PM with Rev. Oscar Hill and Rev. Sandy Hendrick officiating. Burial will follow in the Crooked Oak Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 12:00 until 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Crooked Oak Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Joan Strickland 476 Crooked Oak Road, Hillsville, VA 24343.
