Obituary

Mildred Peters Huffs kind and gentle spirit left this earth on Thursday, August 25. She left as she lived, in peace, encircled by the love or her family and friends. A resident of Dugspur, Virginia, Mrs. Huff passed away at the age of 92. She was born in Floyd County to the late Frank and Nettie Eanes Peters. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband Mark C. Huff; step son Hoover C. Huff; granddaughter Therse Gardner; grandson Timmy Huff; step-grandson Douglas Emkalns; son-in-law Curtis Duke; and two sisters Geneva Peters and Connie Bishop of Ridgeway, Virginia.

Survivors include daughters Shelby Duke of Blue Ridge, Virginia and Ruthie Gardner and husband Randy of Ashville, NC; sons Wayne Huff and wife Joyce, Darrell Huff and wife Kathyrn, and Donnie Huff all of Dugspur; stepdaughter Christine Emkalns of Chicago; step daughter-in-law Mary M. Huff of Danville; ten grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and three step grandchildren. Survivors also include one brother Frank Peters and wife Audrey of Utah and three sisters Evelyn Clark of Elliston, VA, Sylvia Epperly of Blue Ridge, VA and Margaret Agee of Norfolk, VA.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 28, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Rev. Vinton Quesenberry officiating. Burial will follow in the Marshall Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, August 27, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. The family wishes to thank the staff at Trinity Mission for the love they gave our Mom during her stay with them.
