Mildred Dunkley Burnette, 88 of Hillsville, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2007 at Golden Living Center-Blue Ridge. Mrs. Burnett was born in Stuart, VA to Byrd & Abraham Dunkley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ernest E. Burnette and a son James Michael Burnette. She is survived by daughter & son-in-law Brenda & Jerry Surratt of Hillsville; sons & daughters-in-law Barry & Eloise Burnette of Fancy Gap and Mark & Dana Burnette of Hillsville; eight grandchildren Tammy Mabe, Anthony Surratt, Shane Surratt, Chris Burnette, Trenton Burnette, Richard Burnette, Michelle Cook and Brock Burnette; eleven great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren and two step great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 11:00 AM with Pastor Chip Neely officiating. Burial will follow in the Dalton Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday night from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
