Michael George Jefferson

Michael George Jefferson, 47 of Galax, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2026 at his home. Mr. Jefferson was born in Wythe County, Virginia, to the late William Michael Jefferson and Cathy Jo Nester. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his husband, George Douglas Shank, Jr., special stepfather, Barry Newman; special grandfather, Joe Nester; and aunt, Nannette Marshall.

Survivors include his special partner and soulmate, Patrick Fenn; half-brother and sister-in-law, Kenny and Faith Newman; special niece and nephews, Bridget Newman, William Newman, and Charles Newman; special grandmother, Sharon Dalton; aunt and uncle, Chris and Oniesmo Guzman; cousins, Kenzie Marshall, Leighann Marshall, Sarah Guzman, Manuel Guzman, and Matthew Guzman; half-brother, Nathan Jefferson; aunts and uncle, Debbie and Virgil McMickle and Brenda Collins; cousin, Marcy Blair; special friends, Michael Robinson and Tony Langston; and many other special friends.

A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, October 16, 2026 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 10:00 AM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
