Michael Davis (Mickey) King, 67, of Hillsville, VA passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2012 in his sleep at his home after a long battle with cancer. He joins his beloved companion, his black lab "Shifty", who passed away on November 13, 2012. He was born on June 30, 1945 in Wythe County, Virginia to John R. and Virginia King Tedder. He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law and mother-in-law; Lisco and Ruby Spence Nichols; brother-in-law and sister-in-law; Everett and Frances Owens; and brother-in-law, Samuel Whitaker. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Nancy Nichols King; one daughter, Michele King of Hillsville; one grandson, Robert Michael Dalton of Afghanistan, and his wife, Alesia "Lucy" Dalton of Hillsville; one granddaughter, Katrina Dawn Dalton, and her fiancée, Matthew Mendez-Guzman of Hillsville; and four great grandchildren; James Onesimo Mendez-Guzman, Gregory Pedro Mendez-Guzman, Analeigh Marie Dalton, and Aidan Michael Dalton. He is also survived by three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Eileen and Jack Primm of Max Meadows, Diane Hutchinson of Bland, and Jonette and Jerry Dunn of Bland; two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, as well as two aunts, one uncle, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Pastor Andy Edmonds officiating. Burial will follow in Dry Pond Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
