Melvin Gardner Padgett, 98 of Woodlawn, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2024 at Hillsville Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.  Mr. Padgett was born in Carroll County to the late Reuben and Mary M. Phibbs Padgett.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel Weatherman Padgett; and several siblings.

Survivors include his wife, Martha W. Padgett.

A graveside service with burial following will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at McKenzie Cemetery at 2:00 PM with Pastor Sam Blevins officiating.  The family will receive friends at the cemetery on Saturday from 1:30 until 2:00 prior to the graveside service.  Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
