Melton Elmo Nester, 80 of Hillsville passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at his home. Mr. Nester was born in Bedford, Ohio to the late Everett Dennie & Mandy Ethel Burnett Nester. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his brothers Everett Reo Nester and Gaylon Dono Nester; grandson Joshua Shane Edmonds; and great granddaughter Skylar Paige Sain. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Texas Nester of the home; sons & daughters-in-law Bobby & Mary E. Nester, Steven Ward Nester, and Jeffery Hughes & Dena M. Nester all of Hillsville; daughter Julia Suzette Edmonds and special friend Joe Neil Harmon of Hillsville; step-mother Essie Nester of Hillsville; eight grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 25, 2011 at Laurel Fork Primitive Baptist Church at 11:00 AM with Elder Timothy McGrady and Elder Jerry Nester officiating. Mr. Nester will lie in state at the church one hour before the funeral service. Burial will follow in the Nester Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel on Thursday, February 24, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
