Mellie M. Bowman, 96 of Fancy Gap, passed away Sunday, June 25, 2006 at her residence. Ms. Bowman is survived by her daughter Dr. Deanna Bowman and son-in-law Dr. Evan Ashby, Jr. of Fancy Gap; sister-in-law Iva Puckett Marshall of Mt. Airy, NC; one nephew Donald Kinzer; and three nieces Carol Kinzer, Rev. Jo Ann Bunn and Detra Patillo.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 10:00 A.M. with the Rev. Duane Steele officiating. A private graveside service and burial will follow in Wilkinson Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday night at the funeral home.
