Melissa Frye
Mcmillian
March 15, 1970 – March 7, 2026
Melissa Renee Frye McMillian, 55, of Hillsville, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 7, 2026, surrounded by the family she loved dearly. Born in Mount Airy, North Carolina on March 15, 1970, she was the beloved daughter of Ernest "Gayle" Frye and Margaret Ann Scott Frye, who preceded her in death.
Melissa was a devoted wife, mother, and "Mimi." For 37 years, she shared a beautiful marriage with her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Anthony Elvin McMillian. They built a home filled with laughter, faith, and unwavering love. Their four children were the center of her world, and she poured her heart into raising them with kindness, strength, and compassion. Her children were her greatest pride and closest friends.
The last fifteen months of her life brought unimaginable health challenges. Through it all, she demonstrated remarkable strength, resilience, and determination. When the odds seemed impossible, she continued to fight with a courage that inspired everyone around her.
Melissa was a woman of faith who believed in prayer and the love of God. Her children credit their confidence in their faith from watching her and the lessons she instilled in them. She taught them many things, but perhaps the simplest was the one she insisted on most: always say "I love you" before parting ways.
She found happiness in life's simple pleasures. The beach was her happy place. She loved to watch the waves and feel the peace of the ocean. She loved butterflies, her pets, and the beauty of the mountains and the Blue Ridge Parkway views.
Her greatest joy in recent years was becoming a "Mimi." She adored her grandchildren and treasured every moment with them. Her love for them—and for the grandchild still on the way—was endless.
Melissa leaves behind a legacy of love that will live on in all who knew her.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Anthony Elvin McMillian; her children, Meagan Raccuia (Chris) of Fort Mill, South Carolina, A.J. McMillian of Hillsville, Virginia, Annber Gravley (Ryan) of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Mack McMillian (Sierra) of Austinville, Virginia; her grandchildren; Emma Raccuia, Mila Raccuia, Luca Raccuia, Grant Gravley, Luke McMillian and a granddaughter on the way; her siblings, Scott Frye (Jennifer), Todd Frye (Michelle), Lynette Connelly, and Jeff Frye (Erin) and her stepmother, Vicky Frye. She also leaves behind several beloved nieces and nephews.
Though her family's hearts are heavy with grief, they find comfort in knowing that Melissa is now healed, whole, and at peace in Heaven. The love she gave will continue to guide her family every day.
To honor Melissa's wishes, a private memorial service will be held with the family by the ocean.
