Melba Stanley, 91 of Hillsville, passed away Tuesday, May 06, 2008 at her home. Mrs. Stanley was born in Carroll County to the late Barney & Ethel Shockley Bowman. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband George Glen Stanley; daughter-in-law Betty Hiatt Stanley and granddaughter Elizabeth Stanley. She is survived by her daughter & son-in-law Oleta & Winston Puckett of Hillsville; sons & daughters-in-law Elmon & Charlotte Stanley of Hiwassee and Edsel & Linda Stanley of Hillsville; ten grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Rev. Winston Puckett officiating. Burial will follow in the Weddle Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday night from 7:00 until 9:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
