Maxine Lyon Utt, 86 of Hillsville, passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at Trinity Mission of Hillsville. Mrs. Utt was born in Carroll County to the late William Cassell & Virginia Elizabeth Iroler Lyon. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Elden Utt, Sr. and a grandson Michael Matthew Utt. She is survived by her daughter & son-in-law Betty Utt & Craig Covington of Pinnacle, NC; sons & daughters-in-law Elden W. Jr. & Effie Sue Utt of Pilot Mountain, NC and James H. & Susan O. Utt of Winchester, VA; brothers & sisters-in-law W.C. Jr. & Kathleen Lyon, Earl & Opal Lyon and Donald & Betty Lyon all of Hillsville; sisters & brother-in-law Marie Melton of Hillsville and Frieda Mae & James Beamer of Fancy Gap; grandchildren Kara Janette Richardson, Andrew James Utt, Emily Reeve Thomas, Tyson James Utt, Tyler Jennings Covington, Matthew Winton Covington and Seth DeWitt Covington; and great grandchildren Reeve Thomas, Aiden Richardson, and William Wise Thomas.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 13, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Gladesboro Lutheran Church with Pastor Duane Steele officiating. Burial will follow in the Gladesboro Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel on Thursday, February 12, 2009 from 7:00 until 9:00 PM.
