Obituary

Mavis Irene Frazier passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 18, 2014. Mom was a caretaker to her whole family and a constant prayer warrior. No matter what was going on in our lives, we always knew we had mom in our corner praying for us. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends and her "farm family" of llamas, cows, goats, horses and chickens. Heaven's gain is our loss. Mom's favorite song was Under His Wing from Psalm 91: Think of the angels, they are surely here! God has made this promise, so don't ever fear They shall lift you up...in their hands they'll be keeping you Under his wing till the journey is thru. She was preceded in death by her husband the Reverend Albert Dale Frazier, son, Jeffery Dale Frazier and parents, Garfield and Martha Lawson of Austinville. Mavis is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Becky Frazier of Austinville; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Barry Thomas of Austinville; son, Stan Frazier of Charlotte, N.C.; granddaughter and spouse, Keisha and Derrick Spence and great-granddaughters Sadie Mae and Emma of Hillsville; grandsons and spouse, Joshua and Tina Frazier and great-grandsons Foster and Fulton of Fancy Gap, grandsons Justin Frazier of Austinville and Bryce Thomas of Austinville; and brothers and sister-in-law, Winford and Mildred Lawson and Larry Lawson, all of Austinville. Mrs. Frazier also had seven sisters-in-law and spouses, Adeen Sumner, wife of the late Eldridge Sumner, the late Dorothy Utt and husband Arkie Utt, Zona and Johnny Briggs, Grace and Billy Smythers, Fern and Donald Hanks, Edith Frazier, Glenna and Dean Winesett, all of Woodlawn; and four brothers-in-law and spouses, the late RC Frazier and wife Nora Frazier of Woodlawn, Kyle and Katherine Frazier of Austinville, Lloyd and Edna Frazier and Herbert and Jewell Frazier all of Cleveland, Tenn. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 21st at 11 a.m. at Vaughan Guynn-McGrady Chapel in Hillsville, VA with the Rev. James Walker and the Rev. Phillip Campbell, Pastor of the Shorts Creek Church of God officiating. Burial will follow in Monta Vista Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday night at the funeral home. Out of town family and friends may make a donation to the ALBERT DALE and MAVIS IRENE FRAZIER SCHOLARSHIP FUND at Lee University, Cleveland, TN.
