Mary H. Smith , 82, of Hillsville, passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Waddell Nursing and Rehab. Mrs. Smith was born in Carroll County to the late John Thomas and Helen Watson Huff. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank Darrell Smith; sister, Hester Webb; and brothers, Chap, Barton, Edmund, Edgar, Claude, and Horace Huff.

Survivors include her children and spouses, Frank Smith of Winston Salem, NC, Mary Beth and Chuck Schwab of Bridgewater, VA, and Steven and Karen Smith of West Des Moines, IA; grandson, Darrell Smith; step granddaughters, Lauren and Dan Snook and Charlotte Roscoe; one step great grandson, Dean Snook; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 18, 2016 at Island Creek United Methodist Church at 2:00 PM with Rev. Maria Grimm, Rev. C.W. Huff, Rev. Sarah Webb, and Rev. Mary Lewis Webb officiating. Burial will follow in the Jennings Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 12:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the service.
