Obituary

Mary Neal Padgett Keith, born November 3rd, 1949, went home to be with the Lord on March 31st, 2025, at the age of 75. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Russell Keith and parents, Clarence and Esthel Padgett of Barren Springs, VA. Mary was a graduate of Fort Chiswell High School and went on to earn her Bachelor of Science degree from Averett College. Her professional career spanned over two decades as an Early Intervention Specialist. In this role, she had the privilege of working with children and families offering support, guidance and love. Her work left an enduring mark on the lives of countless families and this work is a reflection of her kind heart and love for children. Outside of her career, Mary was deeply involved in her community. As a Girl Scout leader she helped foster independence, confidence, and leadership in young girls, instilling in them values that would last a lifetime.

Mary loved to travel, garden, bring laughter to others, and participate in a competitive game of Rummy complete with witty smack talk. Additionally, whether preparing her famous potato salad or the highly coveted cheeseball, cooking with and for her loved ones was a passion of hers.

Mary's love for her family knew no bounds. She is survived by her cherished daughter and son-in-law Lisa and Robin Quesinberry as well as her treasured grandchildren: Becky Elliott, Christopher Quesinberry, and Danielle Quesinberry. She was a loving sister to Wayne Padgett and wife Judy, Jack Padgett and wife Juanita, Joe Padgett and wife Paula, Tony Padgett and wife Wanda, and Bruce Padgett. Mary shared a special bond with her 11 nieces and nephews as well as their children, all of whom she adored.

Mary's warm heart, kind spirit, outrageous and unhinged sense of humor, and unwavering love will be missed deeply by all who knew her. Her family and friends will forever carry her memory in their hearts.

A receiving of friends will be held at the Vaughan Guynn McGrady Chapel in Hillsville, VA at 2PM on April 5th, 2025. A celebration of Mary's life will follow, beginning at 3PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude's Research Hospital and/or the International Disaster Emergency Services (IDES).
