Mary Catherine Hampton Stahlhut, 52 of Alexander City, AL formerly of Hillsville and known by family and friends as Cathy, passed away from this life on Feb. 20, 2006 at the University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham after a long struggle with complications from brain cancer. Cathy worked for over 25 years in the airline industry in numerous positions including station manager, reservations and flight attendant. She retired from Delta Air Lines on Feb. 1, 2006. She has profoundly touched the lives of many and was know to all for her friendly nature, quick humor, love of life and big heart. Her greatest joy was traveling with her husband and meeting new friends. She was preceded in death by her father Edward Hampton; mother Virginia Hampton; sister, Nancy; and brother Andrew all of Hillsville. She is survived by her husband David Stahlhut of Alexander City. AL; step-daughter Heather Stahlhut of Raleigh, NC; step-son & spouse Michael & Stephanie Stahlhut of Coran, NY; and step-mother Mary Ruth Hampton of Hillsville.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 4, 2006 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel in Hillsville at 1:00 P.M. conducted by Rev. Duane L. Steele. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. on Friday, March 3, 2006 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a favorite charity.
