Mary Iolia Gardner, 90 of Hillsville, passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Twin County Regional Hospital. Mrs. Gardner was born in Carroll County to the late Harrison Lee & Minnie Esther Gwynn Thomas. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Warren Gardner; sons Thomas Delwood Gardner and Warren Calvin Gardner; two brothers; two sisters; and one granddaughter. She is survived by her children Josephine Poindexter & husband Everett of Virginia Beach, Clarence Carson Gardner & wife Ruby of Laurel Fork; Randolph Gardner & wife Ruthie of Mills River, NC, and Murlene Gunter & husband Buford of Hillsville; sister Lessie Arnder of Mount Airy, NC; nine grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Pastor Duane Steele officiating. Burial will follow in the Gladesboro Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, January 2, 2010 one hour prior to the funeral service.
