Mary Ann
Combs
January 18, 1945 – August 5, 2021
Mary Ann Newman Combs was a devoted daughter, loving wife, caring mom, grandmother, sister and friend. She went to be with her Lord, and was finally reunited with Jim, the love of her life, on Thursday, August 5, 2021.
Mary Ann was born on January 18, 1945. She lived her entire life in Hillsville and what an incredible life it was. She married Jim Combs in 1963 and had two loving children, Precious and Pokey. She worked hard and became a successful business woman, owning and operating Magic Mirror Beauty Salon for over 45 years. She had a true servant's heart and spent much of her time doing for and giving to others through her church and community. No words can describe the impact she made on the lives she touched.
Mary Ann was predeceased by her husband of more than 50 years, Jim, her parents, Bill and Laura Newman, her sisters, Opal, Alma, and Vera and brothers, Swanson, Donald and Olen.
Surviving to carry on her memory are her son, Michael Scott Combs (Julie), daughter, Scarlett Combs McKenzie (Keith), grandsons, Parker Combs and Michael Combs, and one sister, Debbie McCraw (Robbie). She is also survived by several sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, her church family, beauty shop family and many friends.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 11:00 AM with Rev. David Moore and pastor Mark Mayes officiating.
