Mary Elizabeth Burnett Marshall, 88 of Dugspur, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at Golden Living Center. She was born April 22, 1921 in Carroll County to the late Irvin Austin Burnett, Sr. and Susannah Dickerson Burnett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Lansing Marshall; brothers William Garrett Burnett, Charles Rush Burnett, Edward Davis Burnett, Clayton Burnett, and Irvin Austin Burnett, Jr.; and sisters Iva Mae Burnett, Lorraine B. Martin, and Viola B. Cummins. Surviving are a brother, Walter Burnett of Dugspur; sister Martha B. West of Collinsville, VA; special niece Dianna B. Phillips; special friend Angela Worrell; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Dugspur Rescue Squad. Inurnment will be in the Cox Cemetery.
