Martha Jane "Janie" Spencer, 70, of Verona and formerly of Laurel Fork, passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2012 at Augusta Nursing and Rehab Center in Fishersville. Mrs. Spencer was born in McLean, Virginia to the late Raymond Elvin and Frances McCauley Hansborough. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband Edward Spencer. Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law Tina and Greg Chamberlain of Waldorf, Maryland, Ruby Rakes of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland, and Tanya Hostetter of Verona, Virginia; son and daughter-in-law Todd and Shonda Spencer of Christiansburg, Virginia; sisters Carol Raye Blair of Clinton, Maryland and Theresa Ann Williams of Germantown, Maryland; nine grandchildren Gregory, David, Carrie, Terrie, Jessica, Travis, Melissa, Christine, and Brianna; six great grandchildren Kelsey, Eli, T.J., Brayden, Cole, and Kaliyah; and several life-long friends. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 2, 2012 at 12:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Rev. Winston Puckett and Pastor Nathan Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in the Nester Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 until 12:00 PM prior to the funeral service.
