Marion E. Hicks, 76, of Hillsville passed away on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at his home. Mr. Hicks was born in Carroll County to the late Orben Ray Hicks and Bertha Mae Dalton Hicks. Survivors include his wife Zenna Hicks of the home; sons and daughters-in-law Joe D. and Judy Hicks of Peterstown, West Virginia and Howard R. and Nina Hicks of Hillsville; daughters and son-in-law Donna and Alan Burnett of Montgomery, Alabama and Kim Hicks Cooke of Hillsville; brother Harlie Hicks of Roanoke; sisters and brothers-in-law Mallie Dalton of Hillsville, Mary Mabry of Winston Salem, NC, Luria Warner of Salem, Eileen Phillips of Springfield, VA, Nancy and Arnold Montgomery of Salem, Edna and Oma Spencer of Roanoke, and Arlie and Alvin Mabry of Roanoke; 13 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; and 2 great granddaughters. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 1, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Pastor Chip Neely and Dr. Lawrence Childs officiating. Burial will follow in the Dalton Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, June 30, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
