Marie Newman, 96 of Hillsville, passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Trinity Mission of Hillsville. Mrs. Newman was born in Carroll County to the late Martin and Grace Gardner Jennings. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband Maury Newman. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Jane and Kenny Melton of Hillsville; granddaughter and spouse Amber and Andy Utt of Hillsville; and sister Lila Shepherd of Edge Water, FL. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 27, 2012 at Hillsville Presbyterian Church at 1:00 PM with Rev. Kevin Campbell officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Jennings Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday one hour prior to the memorial service.
