Marie Carrie Howlett Marshall, 97, of Woodlawn, passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at Golden Living Center in Galax. Mrs. Marshall was born in Carroll County, Virginia to the late Walter G. and Sadie Glidewell Howlett. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Luther Hearold Marshall and her daughter, Belva Marshall Hill. Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Rebecca Easter of Hillsville and Mitzi and Charles Galyean of Galax; sons and daughters-in-law Jerry Marshall of Woodlawn, Kenneth and Carolyn Marshall of Hillsville, and Billy and Sallie Marshall of Woodlawn; son-in-law, Ralph Hill of Roanoke; sisters and brother-in-law, Shirley and Willis Hill of Hillsville and Frances Webb of Fancy Gap; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 19, 2012 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Rev. Kevin Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in the Wilkinson Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 12:30 until service time. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
