Margaret Joyce Shumate, 86, of Hillsville, passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at her home. Mrs. Shumate was born in Norfolk, VA, to the late Henry Hayward Ballance and Ethel Mae Guest Ballance.   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arlis Shumate; second husband, Joe Roumillat; sister, Jean Dalton; and brother, Hayward Ballance.

Survivors include her daughters, Joyce Bowman of Hillsville and Linda Casey and husband, John of Long Beach, MS; step-daughter, Kimberly Chambers of Greenville, SC; sister, Doris Sanders of Charlotte, NC; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at the First Baptist Church of Hillsville at 11:00 AM with Dr. Lawrence Childs officiating. Burial will follow at the Dalton Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 10:30 until 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Mountain Valley Hospice. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
