Marcus Carlin Chappell, 73, of Hillsville passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at his home. He was preceded in death by his wife Rita D. Chappell; parents, Carl and Ethel Bullion Chappell.

Mr. Chappell is survived by two sons and daughter in-law, Michael and Naomi Chappell of Hillsville, and William Chappell of Florence, South Carolina; one daughter, Valerie Cochran of Florence, South Carolina; six grandchildren, Betty Solorzano, Justin Allen, Travis Chappell, Matthew Cochran, Shane Chappell, and Erica Chappell; four great grandchildren also survive.

A Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Worrell Cemetery with Pastor Dale Akers officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, September 12, 2011 from 7:00 until 9:00 PM. Military rites will be conducted by Hillsville V.F.W. Post 1115. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in the name of Marcus Chappell to Twin County Hospice, P.O. Box 106 Galax, VA 24333. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
