Manville Puckett, age 92, of Bristol, Va., fulfilled his journey on earth and went to meet his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 29, 1926 in Grandview, WV, a son of the late Harvey and Gertrude Redden Puckett. Manville was formerly of Roanoke, Virginia and had made his home with his daughter and son-in-law since 2006. Manville was a Retired U.S. Navy Veteran of 21 years. He served in the Korean and Vietnam War. During his tenor of service Mr. Puckett earned the following commendation medals: Good Conduct Medal, Navy Occupation Service Medal with Europe Clasp, National Defense Service Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal. He was a member of The Table Rock Baptist Church in Table Rock, WV.
Manville had a heart of gold and was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He loved spending time with his family playing Yahtzee, watching Family Feud, Nascar, VT Football, bowling, and reading. His family was blessed by his presence and example.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James Puckett; and four siblings.
He is survived by his children, Patti Tucker and husband Rick (VA), Bonnie Puckett (WV), Donnie Puckett (NC), Timothy Puckett and wife Debbie (FL), Robert Puckett and wife Stefania (OH), and Lisa Puckett (KY); grandchildren, Nathan Puckett and wife Shelby, Steven Puckett, Melissa Luedtke, Joe Tucker and wife Elaine, Chad Tucker and wife Samantha, Amber Meeks, Travis Meeks, Jonathan Serino, Giovani Puckett, Justin Puckett and wife Doreen, David Houg and Taylor Lawson; eight great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; former wife, Laverne Perdue (KY) her son, Larry Perdue; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held 12 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2018 in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with his nephew, Rev. Kenny Smith officiating and military honors conducted by the Bristol VFW Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 11 until 12 p.m. prior to the service. The interment will follow the service at 4 p.m. Saturday at Puckett Cemetery in Hillsville, Va. with military honors conducted by the Grover King Post 1115 Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Nathan Puckett, Joe and Chad Tucker, Jonathan Serino, Lonnie and Kevin Smith.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to hospice and friends for all their loving care.
