Luther Ray Akers, 75 of Hillsville, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2022 at his home. Mr. Akers was born in McDowell, West Virginia to the late Edward Posey and Rheba Mabel Fields Akers. IN addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Dana Whitt Akers and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his children, Cindy Sexton, Randy Akers, and Sandy Hull; siblings, Troy Akers, Juanita Stewart, and Bae Fosters; granddaughter, Alexandria Lucas; step-granddaughters, Abigayle Sexton and Erica Sexton; and two step-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 5:00 PM at the home of Mr. Akers with family and friends speaking. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
