Mrs. Lou Fern Hall, 91, of Carroll County passed away peacefully on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Forsyth Hospital in Winston Salem after a brief illness. She was born November 23, 1933, in Carroll County to the late Reed & Louise Dalton. In addition to her parents, Lou was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years William C. Hall, her sisters, Guidie Nester, Selma Dalton, Cloa Nester, Opal Lane and Mozelle Agnew, also her brothers, Paul and John Dalton, her son, Paul Hall and her grandson, Jason Hall.
She is survived by her son, Nelson Hall of Hillsville. She is also survived by a granddaughter, Cara Lindner, of Charlotte and a grandson, Justin Hall, of Mount Airy and 4 great-grandchildren, Rachel, Brody, Abigail and Jaylen. She is also survived by two sisters, Mary Lee Reese and Francis Mikkie Webb, and many very special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that she loved greatly.
Lou was a long-time member of Crooked Oak Missionary Baptist Church. She retired from working at Basset-Walker and took on an active role in the lives of her three grandchildren. She was always taking them to the pool, roller skating, the mall or "loafing" as she referred to the many summer outings.
Lou was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by her kindness. The family of Lou Fern would like to give a special thank you to the doctors and nurses at Forsyth Hospital for the care she received during her illness.
A graveside service with burial following will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 2pm at the Cruise Cemetery with Pastor Sandy Hendrick officiating. There will be no visitation. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
