Loretta Carolyn Sumner, 64 of Hillsville, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2014 at Skyline Nursing and Rehab in Floyd. Ms. Sumner was preceded in death by her mother, Frances Irene Hill Sumner; father, Robert Edwin Sumner; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Troy B. Hill; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Sumner; and special aunt, Vera Mae McGrady. Survivors include her sisters in heart, Brenda McGrady and Marica Montgomery both of Hillsville; brother and sister-in-law in heart, Michael and Leah McGrady of Indiana; uncles and spouse, William Melvin McGrady of Hillsville and Charles and Bonnie Faye Sumner of Fancy Gap; special friend, Edward Bowers of Galax; half sister Jeannie Akers; and half brother, Doug Sumner. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Elder Melvin McGrady and Elder Reuben Hawks officiating. Burial will follow in Wilkinson Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
