Loretta Mae Dalton, age 87 of Hillsville, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at her home. Loretta was born in Rupert, WV on July 7, 1934 to the late Rev. James and Hattie Mae Forbes. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Chester Albert Dalton; and two brothers, Randolph Forbes and Ralph Forbes.

In 1970 Loretta and Chester moved to Hillsville, VA with their three children. Loretta was a devoted employee to the Court Services Unit for 30 plus years. A true child of God, Loretta was a member of Blue Ridge Chapel Baptist Church at the time of her passing. She thoroughly enjoyed participating in church functions and on Sundays, you could always find her singing in the church choir. She loved spring and summer time, always weeding her beautiful flower gardens and picking up every stick and walnut that would fall.

She is survived by her sister, Loreida Hedger of Charmco, WV; daughter, Terri Viars of Max Meadows; son, Doug and wife, Mary Dalton of Dugspur; daughter, Cindy and husband Bobby Bradbery of Fancy Gap, ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and countless friends who loved her dearly.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 10, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel in Hillsville with Pastor David Moore, Pastor Charles Bunn, and Mr. Steve Horton officiating. Burial will follow at the Donald L. Dalton Family Cemetery at 358 Donald Lane, Hillsville, Virginia, 24343.
