Lorene M. Horton 87, of Winston-Salem, NC, formerly of Carroll County, VA passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Lorene was a graduate of Hillsville High School and Radford University. She grew up in Fancy Gap Virginia where she enjoyed cooking, knitting, sewing, and making crafts for her friends and family. She also enjoyed spoiling her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Geneva Ayers Horton; sisters, Oleta Jones, and Lila Webb; brothers, Swanson Horton, and Otis Wyatt Horton. She is survived by her son, Jimmy Horton of Winston-Salem, NC; brother and sister-in-law, Elton and Kathryn Horton of Galax; brother-in-law, Paul Jones of Hillsville; nephews and spouses, Mark and Clara Horton, Steve Horton, Otis and Diane Webb, and Freddie Horton; nieces and spouses, Pam Horton, Debbie and Shirley Ayers, Cindy and Tom Jackson, Shelby and Phil Jiannine, and Mary Horton. Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Webb-Skyview cemetery with Rev. Wendell Horton officiating. Burial will follow the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
