Obituary

Lora Ashby Turner, 81 of Laurel Fork, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at Forsyth Medical Center.  Mrs. Turner was born in Roanoke, Virginia to the late Horace Herman Hunt and Lora Ashby Manson.

Ashby retired as a teacher and reading specialist and had many fond memories of her students at St. Paul School.  She was a history buff, avid reader and could fix anything.  Lora excelled in and enjoyed needlepoint, rug hooking, sewing, cooking and gardening. Her sense of humor and friendship will be sorely missed.

Survivors include her husband, Retired Honorable Edward M. Turner III and his children, Ted, Sam and Anne; her devoted friends and traveling partners, Donald and Donna Ayers; her caregivers, Brenda Butner, Sabre Horn, and Darlene Wilson; and her sweet companion, Dax.

A graveside service with burial following will be held on Monday, March 31, 2025 at the Turner Duncan Cemetery at 11:00 AM with Pastor Rick Clark officiating.  Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
