Lola "Geneva" Edwards, 88, of Hillsville, passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2015. Mrs. Edwards was born in Carroll County to the late Harvey and Lila Vass Burcham. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Garnett C. Edwards; two daughters, Mary Jane Edwards and Marsha Jean Edwards; brother, Kenneth Burcham; and sister, Lucille Quesinberry. Survivors include her sisters and brother-in-law, Iva Lee Tate and Mae Goad both Hillsville, and Ethelene and James Love of Galax; sister-in-law, Shirley Burcham of Fancy Gap; half brother, Lionel Burcham of Fancy Gap; half sister and spouse, Lois and Randy Weeks of Floyd; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and also her friends and the staff at Commonwealth Assisted Living and Trinity Mission. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel 2:00 PM with Pastor Joe Shumate and Rev. David Bays officiating. Burial will follow in the Gladesboro Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
