Lola Ivalene Amburn Ward, 93 of Hillsville, and most recently of Statesville, NC where she lived with her son Carroll Ward of 3587 Wilkesboro Highway, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Ward was born in Woodlawn, VA on August 31, 1925 to the late Rufus Frank and Alena Cocke Amburn. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, W.C. Ward; daughter, Barbara Joan Shepherd; grandson, Williams Phipps; granddaughter, Angela Shackelford; and brother, Adron Amburn.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Carroll and Nancy Ward of Statesville, NC; daughter and son-in-law, June and Glenn Akers of Hillsville; sister, Vera Hawks of Galax; her black and white poodle, Chop Chop; ten grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and eleven great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
