Linda Ruth Breuninger Marshall

Linda Ruth Breuninger was born on June 27, 1949 to August Paul "Bud" and Nora Napier Breuninger. She was raised with her sister, Susan Breuninger Alligood Haynes in Coatesville, Pennsylvania and graduated from high school there in 1967. The family were members of the Coatesville Presbyterian Church; Linda was a member of the Chester County Bible Quiz team and competed across Pennsylvania and New Jersey. She memorized the Bible book of Romans and could quote extensively from Genesis and Matthew.

She was an accomplished pianist. She sang alto in church and community choirs. She graduated from Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania with a degree in Biology. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 1975 and specialized in Pediatrics with training in Delaware. She established a private practice in Pediatrics in Honey Brook, PA, and served a season as Chief of Pediatrics at Brandywine Hospital in Coatesville, PA.

Linda and Everett Gary Marshall of Coatesville, PA were married in 1971. He served as pastor of the Honey Brook Presbyterian Church from 1978 to 1989. From 1989 to the present their home was on the Marshall Family Farm in Carroll County, Virginia, homesteaded by Stephen Bond in 1796, a Marshall ancestor. Linda served with New River Valley Pediatrics at their satellite clinics in Dublin and Hillsville, VA. Her husband preached for twenty years in Presbyterian Churches in southwest Virginia with Linda at his side.

Linda served on nineteen short-term medical mission teams all over Latin America. She was a physician for the Free Clinic in Galax, VA for several years. She developed a lung condition that required specialized treatment, which she found at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. They have a home in nearby Gainesville and many friends there. On Sunday, August 12, she succumbed to the disease while awaiting a lung transplant.

A celebration service of her life, with an emphasis on global missions, was held on August 16 at the Faith Presbyterian Church in Gainesville. A coronation service, with emphasis on her devotion to Christ, will be held at the Fairview Presbyterian Church in Hillsville, VA on Thursday, August 23; guests received from 5:30 pm, service at 6:30 pm. A celebration service of her life, with an emphasis on music, will be held at 6:30 pm on Thursday, August 30 at the Honey Brook Presbyterian Church, Pennsylvania. Memorial donations can be made to the global Christian mission of your choice. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is assisting the family will arrangements locally.
