Lillian Irene Sutphin Branscome, 90 of Dugspur, passed away on Monday, May 19, 2014 at Twin County Regional Hospital. Mrs. Branscome was born in Carroll County to the late Vernie and India Newman Sutphin. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Sheldon Branscome; and two brothers, Howard Sutphin and Elmo Sutphin. Survivors include her children and spouses, Larry and Joyce Branscome of Kingsport, TN and Joyce and Ricky Sutphin of Mount Airy, NC; sister, Nancy Montgomery of Galax; three grandchildren and spouses, Christopher and Velvet Leonard of Cana, Lindsey and Ryan Postlethwait of Boone, NC, and Matthew and Keisha Branscome of Kingsport, TN; four great grandchildren, Sheldon Leonard, Laynie-Jo Leonard, Keiara Branscome, and Aly Leonard; and several special nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 3:00 PM with Dr. Rickey Atkins and Rev. Elmon Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in the Branscome Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:30 until 3:00 PM prior to the service. The family says that flowers would be appreciated; however, donations may be made to Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church 46 Hunters Ridge Road, Dugspur, VA 24325. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
