Lillian Martin Bowman, 98 of Hillsville, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at Heritage Hall Laurel Meadows. Mrs. Bowman was born in Carroll County, Virginia on April 28, 1923. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Rush Bowman; parents, Gilmer and Sena Martin; brother and sister-in-law, Clayton and Maude Martin; and daughter-in-law, Wanda Sue Bowman.

Lillian, a former cook at the Corner Restaurant and known by many as Granny, is survived by her daughters, Lois Kemp (Jimmy) and Alice Patton (Jeffrey); sons, Douglas Bowman and Lewis Bowman; sister, Laurie Fariss (Jim); grandchildren, Ryan Kemp (Michelle), Jamie Bowman, Kevin A. Kemp (Sandy), Matthew Bowman (Julie), and Victoria Lowry (Eric); great-grandchildren, Jonathan Kemp, Seth Kemp, Adam Kemp, Abigail Randal, Kacie Loker (Danny), Bradley Kemp, Vincent Bowman, Evan Bowman, Hannah Lowry, Ashlyn Lowry, and Elise Lowry; two great-great-grandsons; sisters-in-law, Vicie Smith (Everett) and Bonnie Bowman; and two special nieces, Jewel Sue Fariss Spencer (Robert) and Joyce Ann Martin Carden (Ken).

The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at Heritage Hall Laurel Meadows for their wonderful love and care for Lillian throughout the years.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Elder Lewis Vass officiating. Burial will follow in the Bowman Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
