Obituary

Lester "Butch" Carter 82 of Austinville, VA passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Titus B. and Effie Mae Horton Carter; first wife Agnes Marie Carter; grandson, Joshua Cox; daughter, Andrea Marie Cox.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Carter of the home; children and spouses, Brian Carter and Ruthy Riffey, Scott Carter, Kelli and Ronnie Hash, April and John Hill, and Melvin Frizzell; brothers and sisters-in-laws, David and Doris Carter, and Chester Carter; sisters and brothers-in-laws, June Burcham, Lola and Lake Newman, Nina Reece, and Carolyn Russell; grandchildren, Nathaniel Alexander, Maylea Hash, Olivia Hash, Cady Smith, Lee and Kimberly Riffey, Ahliyah Riffey, Kimberli Smith, and Jacob Cox; special caregiver, Angela Hawks.

Lester graduated from Hillsville High School and attended College at Radford University for Electrician Degree. He was a Superintendent for John S. Clark Construction Company for 30 plus years. He was also a Scout Master and loved to hunt and fish, and loved his dog Scooby Doo.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Coulson Church with Pastor Andrew Vargas officiating. Burial will follow in the Coulson Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted by Hillsville V.F.W. Post 1115. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel.
