Lassie Lee Hurst Roberts, 91 of Hiwassee, went to be with our Lord and Savior peaceful on Oct. 27, 2008. Surviving children are two sons Jethro Roberts of Hiwassee, Archie & Janet Roberts of Hiwassee; three daughters Beatrice & Jordon Huff of Hillsville, Joyce & John Sutphin of Willis and Wanda Landreth of Galax; daughter-in-law Hazel Roberts of Hiwassee; 17 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; special friends Marshall Duncan, Eula Pugh and Pat Bishop; special nieces Ruth Henley and Sylvia Taylor and special nephew Wiley Ousley.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Billie Roberts; two sons Larry Wayne and Roy Roberts; daughter Phyllis Roberts; daughter-in-law Bartie Roberts; and 5 grandchildren; niece Mae Parsons; and nephew Estel Ousley. She devoted her life to her family and most of all her church at Dry Pond that she has attended every since she was 2 years old. She departed this world with love surrounded by family and special friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 31, 2008 at Dry Pond Primitive Baptist Church at 2:00 PM with Elder Reuben Hawks and Elder Melvin McGrady officiating. Burial will follow in the Dry Pond Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel on Thursday, October 30, 2008 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Dry Pond Church c/o BB & T Bank in Hillsville or Dugspur Rescue Squad 118 Double Cabin Road Dugspur, VA 24325.
