Laeula Frazier, Hillsville, VA, went to be with the Lord February 21, 2014. She was born in Carroll County, VA June 24, 1924 to Hobert and Cara Vaughan Edwards who preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Jefferson Frazier, a son, Donald Ray Frazier, a daughter, Kathy Jean Frazier, two brothers, Carl Edwards and Dale Edwards and two sisters, Louella Shupe and Darl Barlow. Additionally she was preceded by her three sons-in-law, Gerald "Jerry" Shank, Jack Bolen and Garnett Burris. Survivors include a sister, Martha Combs, Hillsville, a son, Jerry L. Frazier and his wife, Phyllis, Newbern, NC, daughters, Thelma Burris, Wytheville, Mary Shank and Christine Bolen, Hillsville, ten grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Until disease robbed her of her memory, she took great delight in being surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved her family reunion and preserving the history of her Vaughan ancestry. All who knew her will have fond memories of the childhood stories she shared. She loved to travel and did as long as her health allowed. When her children went to places she was unable to go, she would say, "You're traveling to places I dreamed about from reading about them in my books as I grew up". She had fond memories of her early married life in Florida and loved the beautiful weather. Laeula was a scholar, a business woman, community minded and made many friends as she lived her life. Visitation will be on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Funeral Home, Hillsville, VA from 5:00 - 7:00 PM and the funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM with Reverend Eddie Dalton and Reverend Ray Bolen officiating. Burial will be at Shorts Creek Cemetery on Sunday, February 23, 2014 at 1:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
