Kenny Calvin (K.C.) Burnett, Sr., 79 of Bassett, formerly of Carroll County, passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at Martinsville Hospital. Mr. Burnett was born in Carroll County to the late Garnett Thomas Burnett and Zella Gathie Newman Burnett. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife Nionnie Hodges Burnett and sister Geneva Cox. He is survived by sons Kenny Burnett and Terry Burnett both of Sparta; brother & sister-in-law Hazen & Linda Burnett of Galax; sisters & brother-in-law Willa Hamilton of North Canton, OH and Gardella & Tom Terry of Woodlawn; one grandson Mark Hodge; and five step grandchildren.

A graveside service with burial following will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at the Melton Cemetery at 1:00 PM with Pastor Russell Payne officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the Hillsville V.F.W. Post 1115. The family will receive friends at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel from 11:30 to 12:30.
