Kenneth Clyde Alderman, 92 of Hillsville passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at his home. Mr. Alderman was born in Carroll County, VA to the late Rupert Edward and Ella Kate Semones Alderman. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Vista Star Alderman; son, Nelson Alderman; daughter, Donna Surratt; and several brothers and sisters.

Kenneth was in the 20th Air Force Division in Westover Field, Massachusetts. Most of his military stay was in Guam on the Marianna Islands. After he was discharged, he was in the car business in Hillsville until he went back to farming in 1979.

Survivors include his daughter-in-law, Patricia Melton Alderman of Vinton; son-in-law, Gary Steven Surratt of Hillsville; grandchildren and spouses, Amy and Paul Hash of Hillsville, Alena and Shane Spangler of Hillsville, David Alderman of Vinton, and Matthew and April Surratt of Hillsville; six special great-grandchildren; sister, Nona Flippin of North Carolina; brother, Neal Alderman of North Carolina; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins and many special friends.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at Shiloh United Methodist Church at 3:00 Pm with Rev. Ray Bolen and Rev. Dina Clower officiating. Burial will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted at the graveside by the Hillsville VFW Grover King Post 1115. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 2:00 until 3:00 PM prior to the funeral service. Flowers are appreciated; however, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shiloh United Methodist Church 1583 Coon Ridge Road, Hillsville, VA 24343. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
