Kathryn "Nanny" May Melton, 69 of Hillsville, passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Mrs. Melton was born in Carroll County to the late Thomas Rex and Mary Pauline Myers Poe. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Arthur Poe, Kelly Poe, and Joe Poe; and a sister, Faye Poe.

Survivors include her husband, Gerald Wayne Melton of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Norma Melton of Hillsville; daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Jerry Davidson of Hillsville; grandchildren and spouse, Christal and Jake Dalton of Hillsville, Andrea Kleinke of Asheville, and Jacob Melton of Winston Salem; brothers and sister-in-law, James Poe of Woodlawn, Robert Poe of Galax, and Darrell and Pam Poe of Galax; sisters and brothers-in-law, Virginia and Doug Chaney of Cascade and Sandra and Charlie Stamper of Woodlawn; special friends, Effie Thompson, Diane Taylor, and several others; several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Woodlawn Church of God at 7:00 PM with Pastor Rudy Robinson and Pastor Russell Payne officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 5:00 until 7:00 PM prior to the service. A private interment will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local church in Memory of Kathryn Melton. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
