Katherine Messer Brown, 79 of Barren Springs, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2009 at her home. Mrs. Brown was born in West Virginia to the late John & Mary Howell Messer. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son Roger Lee Brown. She is survived by her husband Roy Brown of the home; daughter-in-law & spouse Virginia Gail & Jeff Hoerner of Wilmington, DE; brothers Jack Messer of Florida, Charlie Messer of Ohio, and Tommy Messer of Florida; two granddaughters & spouses Kimberly K. & J. Niedbalski of Lynchburg, VA and Linda Brown Price & Steve Price of Earlville, MD; seven great grandchildren Adam, Nicole, Christian, Dakota, Justin, Cheyanna, and Gabrielle; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2009 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 11:00 AM with Rev. Dale Akers officiating. Burial will follow in Rosewood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday night from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
