Kate Alderman Grimes Monday, 96, of Mount Airy, NC, formerly of Hillsville, VA, passed away Friday, November 27, 2009 at the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC. Mrs. Monday was born in Hillsville, VA on August 04, 1913 to the late Laura & Churchwell Alderman. She was preceded in death by her husbands; Joe Sizer Grimes, W.E. Monday and three children Wanda Grimes, Jeanette Chappell and Gerald Grimes. Kate was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother. She is survived by two grandchildren & spouse Ray & Kennette Chappell of Dobson, NC and Sherry Fouts of Woodlawn, VA; special caregiver Kennette Chappell; seven great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren also survive.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, November 29, 2009 at 3:30 PM at the Alderman Cemetery with the Rev. Billy Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Alderman Cemetery. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC. 27017. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
