Karen Gail Sumner-Bowman, 52, of Galax, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at her home. She was born in Carroll County on April 1, 1963. She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Cassell. Survivors include her husband, Eddie Ray Bowman of the home; mother, June Cassell of Hillsville; step children and spouse, Kevin Ray and Sabrina Bowman of Galax and Nicole Christy Corns of Mount Airy, NC; sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda C. Turpin and Bill of Dublin, Sharon Kay Schlesinger and Morris of Hillsville and Mildred Cassell of Dublin; grandchildren, Gabriel Ray Bowman, Taylen Isayah Davis, and Madilyn Noel Bartlett; several nieces and nephews; and several brothers and sisters-in-law. A private graveside service will be held at Blue Mont Cemetery at a later date. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
